Turn it on. Always start your Altrist at the lowest temperature setting and gradually increase heat as necessary for your personal hair type and texture. Altrist has 15 temperature settings. One of them is perfect for your hair. We recommend: |

Comb your hair, then use clips to divide your hair into sections no wider than the ceramic heating plates. The general rule is to straighten sections no thicker than half the width of the ceramic plates.
Beginning at the base of the hair strand, clamp the ceramic plates around a section of hair and slowly glide the Altrist to the tips using your comb to guide hair. Repeat until dry and straight. Continue until all your hair has been straightened.
NOTE: You will see steam from the vents on both wet and dry hair. This is normal. On wet hair, the Altrist vents unwanted water from the hair shaft while sealing the moisture your hair needs inside. On dry hair, you may see a small amount of vapor produced when the hair shaft is sealed and locked by Vita Prep.
You’ll find Altrist produces beautiful results every time. Used regularly, Altrist will actually heal hair by sealing in moisture and vital proteins, and reducing microscopic damage that causes frizz. The result? Shine, luster, strength and health in every strand Altrist touches. |

STRAIGHT: Insert a 2-inch section of hair between the plates, squeeze together and glide slowly from roots to ends.
SOFT CURLS: Repeat straight directions, then wind hair around plates.
FLIP OUT: Repeat straight directions, then slightly flip out the ends.
FLIP IN: Repeat straight directions, then slightly flip in the ends. |

The Altrist isn’t just for straight hair, it’s a perfect styling tool.
FLIPS: Clamp the Altrist onto the hair and direct it upward in the form of a flip as you slowly pull the iron toward the ends of the hair.
On very straight hair, heat the hair shaft with Altrist and then go over it again immediately, turning the Altrist up at almost a right angle to form the flip. This technique is perfect for very short hair.
CURLS: Altrist’s ceramic plates are perfect for adding a little curl. Simply clamp the tips of a section of hair and rotate the tool one turn. Hold for a second and release. In less time than it takes to set a few rollers, you have a head full of soft, bouncy curls.
FIX: If you set your hair with hot or wet set rollers, you may end up with a little too much curl. Use Altrist to smooth out the unwanted bounce by lightly applying the ceramic plates to the area you want to soften. It only takes a small amount of heat to tame that extra curl! |

Use a slow pulling motion while gliding the Altrist through the hair to counteract natural ridges in the hair follicle.
The smaller the hair sections you work on, the straighter each of your sections will be.
The base of your hair needs the most amount of heat to straighten and dry while the ends need the least.
Straighten fine or color-treated hair at lower temperatures, coarse or curly hair at higher temperatures.
With very curly hair, it's important to get Altrist as close to the scalp as possible to pull the hair straight from the base of the hair shaft. |
